Quick Start 3D Printing in 05 Steps: Optimized Method!
3D printing has become a domestic process today. If you have a 3D model you can have a 3D printed model in minutes these days. There are so many machines with many options. All these are made easy of the printing. Each one has different options but the final product is the same. All of these are made for the quick and correct 3D output. As a beginner, you can output a 3D print without having a master’s knowledge.
You may have a brand new 3d printer and also it can be unboxed and assembled last few hours. So now you are going to print your first object. So you need quick guidance about 3D printing.
Here you can have an idea about 3D printing within 05 steps. It is easy. So if your printer is assembled well next you need to load your filaments (printing material) into the machine. Now wait for a second and let me explain to you the 05 steps!
Step 01 – Ready the 3D Model
The 3D model is an essential thing for 3D printing. But do you know how to do it? I can show you 02 options first is to make a 3D model with your own using 3D modeling software and also you can download a 3D model online. So which one you will select?
Make 3D model using 3D modeling software
3D modeling software is widely used for 3D model making There are 4 main types of 3D modeling software. So you had better select one software and practice it.
Product and package design | 3D Max, Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, Rhino 3D |
Architectural design | AutoCAD, Revit, Archicad, Google Sketchup |
Mechanical design | SolidWorks, Inventor, |
Sculpting | Maya, Cinema 4D, 3D Max |
But this is not the time for any practicing. So now you should download any 3D model using the online store. There are many 3D models online and available on many websites like Cgtrader, Free3D, SketchUp warehouse, etc. Remember when you download it check the availability of .STL file.
Because.STL file is support for any of 3d printer and it is easy if you have that. Or if you download it as a source file like .3ds, c4d you have to import then into the software and export it as a.STL file type. So anyway now you have the.STL file type.

Step 02 – Create the G-Code
G code is the machine language for the 3D printers. So using your .stl file you can generate G-code if you have the G code generator. We called Slicer of these kinds of software. You can find few Slicers Here and install them on the PC.
Then you had better import the 3D file (.stl) into that and check the model and scale it as you need. You must need the size of your 3D printer and according to that, you must set the scale of the printing object. I hope it may be a small object. And then check the connections of the model using the software. Sometimes you may find disconnects in the model. So you need to immediately fix it. So it is unable to print.
First of all, you need to fix the file type and then import again and generate the G code. And also you must have good knowledge about G code and you can refer to this and add some important thing to you.
And then save it to the SD card and mount it to the 3D printer
Step 03 – Optimize the 3D Printer
Before you start the 3D printing you should get ready the 3D printer very well. You had better make sure you completely fix the machine with 100% accuracy and when everything is alright check all parts step by step as follows.
01. 3D print bed level
The 3D print bed should be leveled every time. First of all, you must level the surface where the printer is placed. And then keep the machine and check the level of the machine. Then check the bed leveling. If it is not level use screws in 4 corners for leveling it.
02. Place Print Head Properly
The print head should be well leveled to the print bed. We must make sure that. If not take a paper and put it on the bed and place the print head without touching the paper. It should not be near or far from the bed.
03. Check Extruder Temperature
The extruder is the hole where the material comes out. There is a mechanism to melt filament in the nozzle and then it comes out and sticks to the previous layer. So when there is no proper temperature the layers will not adhere to the previous layer as well melt too much. This kind of problem can be raised when you do not have the proper temperature of the nozzle.
04. Load The Filament
The filament is the printing material of the printer. And there are so many filament materials in the market. You should select the correct filament material for your printing process. You can have some unbranded filament that comes with your 3D printer. But this is not much good. Because I could see many peoples faced many problems with using that filament. So you had better order some quality filament for your printing process.

Step 04 – Print the 3D Model
After you did all the above 3 steps now! You need to start the 3D printing using the SD card or connect with a cable from a PC. So anyway this is your waiting time. You can see the extruder move with the bed and printing is going on. So in this step, you can see some problems it the machine that is not properly optimized. Here are the few things that you can observe when there is no good optimization.
Problem | Check the Optimization |
Not Sticking to the bed | Bed Level, Extruder temperature |
Starting layer problem | Check extruder bed gap, Extruder temperature |
Missing small details | Check the nozzle diameter |
Clogging | Check the nozzle |
Layers not loose | Check nozzle temperature |
Reduce gap with thin wall | Change the nozzle and G code |
Weak infill | Check G code infill pattern |
Overheating small parts | Change the temperature, nozzle |
Layer shifting | Check nozzle type, check the temperature |
In these parts, you can see this kind of problem. So anyway there are many problems related to the machine few are above.

Step 05 – Post Processing

Now you finish the printing process. Can you see the quality of the model? There you can see some rough layers as well as supports and many more which is no need for the final object. First, you need to do the remove the supports. You can break them and then use sandpaper to soften the layer. And please pay attention to the dimensions.
If you print the multiple-part object now it is time to connect all. Before that, you need to use some glue that would not affect too much to the layers.
Sometimes you may too much be sanding you can lose the dimension of the models. And then use some polishing method for the proper surface. If you can use some acetone rough layers can be melting and be added proper finished surface. And it is for the ABS only.
If everything is fine add the coloring to the object. You can paint the object as you need with compatible painting.
